Al Ready (born August 5, 1977) is a Canadian-American professional baseball former player and current college baseball coach. He is currently the head coach of the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds baseball team.
Coaching career
Ready began coaching at UIndy in 2004 and was promoted to head coach in May 2018.[2] Since taking over, he has led the team to multiple NCAA DII tournament appearances and back-to-back college world series berths in 2023 and 2024.[3]
Playing career
Ready played as a catcher for UIndy from 2000–2001. He was a Second-Team All-American on the Indianapolis Greyhounds team that made it to the semi-finals at the 2000 DII college world series in Montgomery, AL. Ready was a First-Team Academic All-American in 2001. He finished his career holding several program records in RBI and walks.[4] He later played professional baseball for the London Werewolves and Evansville Otters of the independent Frontier League.[5]
