Al Urubah Park (حديقة العروبة), is a park under construction on top of the abandoned King Khalid’s Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, located adjacent to King Abdullah Mosque.[1] Covering an area of 75.4 hectares (186 acres), the project was announced on March 14, 2024 by Royal Commission for Riyadh City in order to comply with the Quality of life Program and raise the ecology of the city.
Location
The park is in a strategic location near the Takhassusi Hospital & Subway Station, Jewel of Riyadh, Diplomatic Quarter and King Saud University all by one road. The park is also connected to the King Abdullah Grand Mosque and Sofitel Hotel, making the park close to many educational, diplomatic, religious, health, and hospitality services. The Park also has 3 bus stations connecting to all of Riyadh.
Design
The park’s unique design was adopted from several designs submitted by six international contestants who participated in a competition to present ideas that achieve sustainability and conform to environmental standards. The design features 3 kilometers long and 12 meters high path, providing a panoramic view of the city’s landmarks. The design also utilizes modern technologies in harmony with nature, providing visitors an interactive experience using augmented reality. Over 600,000 trees and shrubs will be planted, covering 65% of the park’s area. In addition, the development of permanent water bodies accommodated in the initial design stages with the Al Laysan Valley pass through the park.

The park also features a 14-km-long walking trail, green terraces, open spaces, and theaters for events and festivals.
