Alain Merheb
Alain Merheb (آلان مرعب) December 11, 1947 - July 24, 2005, is a Lebanese folk artist and singer born in Aqoura, a village in Mount Lebanon.[1][2]
Early career
Alain Mereb turned in his youth to an advanced specialization in music and dance, as is the case for many artists in Lebanese history, and studied interior engineering in College International. He later joined the Romeo Lahoud dancing group in 1968, and his participation debut in the work, “The Citadel” ("القلعة") in the Baalbeck International Festival in which he made his mark.[3][4]
Legacy
Merheb toured the world with the Romeo Lahoud, and performed on the most important theaters such as L'Olympia Bruno Coquatrix, Theater de Beauzar and Albert Hall in London,[5] and many others where Alain Merheb is found treading in his dances in "Sangaf Singif", "Yasmine", and "Layali Zaman", and the morning works with which he lived an artistic honeymoon, due to the intensity of harmony between them. During the rehearsals for Lebanon Nights in 1987, Romeo Lahoud suggested that he'd sing, and it was his first singing participation to restore folklore with his voice.[5] Soon he began creating albums and made his signature, "Al-Hawara" and "Dal3ouna". He performed all over the Lebanon and Arab Countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Jordan and Syria. He also had memorable performances in the US, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Belgium, France and Denmark where he showcased his voice globaly.[6]
