Alan B. Bursteen, born on September 16, 1957, in Highland Park, Illinois, USA Alan B. Bursteen is the Co-Founder and President of Milestone Studios, LLC.
Early Life[edit]
Born in Highland Park, IL Alan attended Niles West High School and Arizona State University graduating in 1979 with a BA in Communications and Film Studios. Alan grew up within the Jewish religion and traditions and he is one of three children. His twin brother David and sister Ilene (died of breast cancer January 30th 1994 at the age of 38). Alan’s father was Jack Bursteen a former Chicago Politician for Mayor Richard J. Daley and his mother Annette Bursteen ne Turen who was a homemaker, they are both deceased.
Career[edit]
Alan B. Bursteen is the Co-Founder and President of Milestone Studios, LLC. The company has the unique ability to source projects, work with talent representatives, produce, finance, and distribute commercial films worldwide to the marketplace. Milestone creates original content as well as develops film adaptations from fiction and non-fiction novels, articles, autobiographical works, and other source materials. Milestone develops and produces films using private equity financing with budgets ranging from $5M - $15M per title. Genres include action, thrillers, crime, horror, comedy, and family. Additionally, Milestone can provide turnkey solutions for filmmakers in various stages of production to secure financing and distribution for their movies. Bursteen has an extensive background in motion picture production, acquisitions, sales, and worldwide distribution. As President of New City Releasing, Inc., Bursteen became a known licensing agent of independent feature films in the United States. He was responsible for licensing Christopher Nolan's film, Memento, Crash, Boondock Saints, and Freeway. Throughout his career, Bursteen has successfully licensed over 750 motion pictures, produced more than 150 feature films, and over 100 hours of television series.[1] Bursteen played a role in creating the "World Premiere" branding for HBO, Syfy Channel, USA Network and Starz. Bursteen is a member of AFI (American Film Institute), ATAS (Academy of Television Arts & Sciences), and the PGA (Producers Guild of America).
He was the executive producer for the movie The Bikini Carwash Company,[2]
Alan and his wife Dawn’s production company Milestone Studios have produced the movie Dead Man’s Hand starring Stephen Dorff, Jack Kilmer, and Cole Hauser.[3] Milestone Studios is also responsible for producing the movie The Minute You Wake Up Dead,[4] which is starring Morgan Freeman, Cole Hauser, and Jaimie Alexander. Alan made an announcement and discussed his thoughts on the cast members for the movie including Morgan Freeman.[5] He is the executive producer for The Minute You Wake Up Dead[6] and Sonic Impact.[7] He also produced the movie The Last Shootout.[8] According to the Houston Press Alan was also the executive producer of The Desperate Riders. The producer Andrew Stevens went to Alan Bursteen and Dawn Bursteen who work together with Grindstone and Lionsgate to get his film Pursuit done.[9] Alan Bursteen worked as an executive producer alongside Barry Brooker and Dawn Bursteen on the western Catch The Bullet movie.[10]
Personal Life[edit]
Alan is married to Dawn Dubovsky Bursteen since January 6, 1996. They have 3 children Bailey Sari Bursteen born January 19, 2000, Braden Jacob Bursteen born November 18, 2001, and Brooke Kayla Bursteen born March 22, 2003.
