From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Biography[edit]

Alan Rosen, born August 19, 1927, is renowned for his work in robotic neurobiology, machine consciousness, space systems engineering, and nuclear physics. He is known for designing robotic machines that exhibit human intelligence, consciousness, and emotions.

Youth[edit]

Rosen was born in Israel to Orthodox Jewish parents who emigrated from Poland to Israel in 1922. In 1936, his family moved to the USA. Rosen served in the US Navy during World War II (1944–1948) and later earned degrees in physics and nuclear physics. He married physicist Anda Meisels in 1956 and has five sons, two of whom, David B. Rosen and Mark A. Rosen, contribute to the field of robotic neurobiology. Rosen remarried in 1985 and has a daughter who graduated from NYU.

Academic Career[edit]

  • 1954–1972: Lecturer and assistant Professor of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Southern California.
  • 1963–64: Adjunct Professor at UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and UC Riverside.
  • 1972: Adjunct Professor at Los Angeles Valley College.
  • 1980: Consultant and advisor to various universities under the Visiting Scientist Program in Physics.

Robotic Neurobiology[edit]

  • 1970–1971: Principal investigator studying the vector magnetocardiographic waveform generated by the human heart.
  • 1993: Founded Machine Consciousness after retiring from TRW, focusing on systems engineering and reverse engineering of human consciousness and emotions.
  • 2003: Obtained a patent for the Relational Robotic Controller (RRC).
  • 2005: Published 12 years of research in the MCTJ-Android Engineering Journal.

Space Systems Engineering[edit]

  • 1960–1975: Principal investigator for NASA, conducting experiments on various spacecraft.
  • 1975–1985: Laboratory Director of the Space Sciences Laboratory.
  • 1985–1992: Advanced Systems Manager for the Science and Applications Business Area.

Work[edit]

Dr. Rosen is the director of Research at Machine Consciousness (MCon) and the founder of the Robotic Neurobiology Society. He has developed patents for conscious, emotional, and intelligent humanoid robots. Rosen is an authority in robotic neurobiology, consciousness, and emotions, and has published numerous scientific papers.

Theories of Consciousness, Emotions, and Cognition[edit]

Rosen's theories posit that the human brain and consciousness are Darwinian adaptations designed to enhance human survival. His work forms the foundation for future developments in robotic neurobiology and humanoid robotic systems engineering.

Publications[edit]

Rosen has authored or co-authored four technical books and over 70 contributions to journals and conferences in robotic neurobiology, space science, and systems engineering.
