Alaska Leigh (born 27 April 1997[2] is an actress, model and musical theatre performer best known for her roles in Victoria Gotti:My Fathers Daughter[3] as Bunny, The Australian Tour of Chicago (musical) as Katalin Hunyak, and The Silent Passenger as Tracy.
Early life[edit]
Born in Brisbane, Queensland to parents, Lisa Maree Owen, an accountant, and Grahame John Wrobel, a cost engineer, it came as quite shock to her parents how immensely interested in the creative fields and performing she was.
As a child model/dancer, Leigh was immersed in the performing arts since the early age of two. She was scouted in a mall and asked to star in a commercial for Donut King, from there she never looked back. Leigh continued to dance, sing and model as she broke into her film career as well as performed many leading roles in stage shows such as, Chicago (musical), Carrie (musical)[4] and Carousel (musical), to name a few.
Before moving to Vancouver and diving in with both feet to the entertainment industry, Leigh attended high school at St Rita's College, Clayfield, attended regular acting class, was a competitive dancer at Theatre & Dance and was constantly modelling/acting/performing.
Career[edit]
Leighs’ career took off at the age of two when she was scouted in a shopping mall for a TVC, Donut King. The commercial aired Australia wide and this launched Leigh into editorial, print and commercial work as a child model. In her early years she also danced full time and took regular singing and acting class.
Her launch into film came in 2010 when she was cast as the leading roles of Sophie/Kate (twins) in a low budget/independent short film and from here she continued to constantly work on shorts and features for film festivals as well as music videos, TVC’s and in national tours of musicals. Her film Off Road/Off Line where Leigh played the leading role of Rhian circled the film festival circuit internationally and won many awards for excellent performances (Leigh included), as well as script, lighting and direction. Leigh participated in the 48hr film festival on Gold Coast, Australia where her film Three Weeks gained immense praise and recognition for the dark yet comedic nature.
Whilst being based in Australia Leigh worked on many tours and stand alones of well renowned musicals, in key roles such as Velma Kelly, Chicago (musical), Beth, Little Women (musical), and Chris Hargensen,Carrie (musical).
Since relocating to Vancouver, British Columbia Leigh has been constantly working in the entertainment industry on projects such as Victoria Gotti: My Fathers Daughter starring Maurice Benard, independent film The Silent Passenger and many due for release in 2020.
