Alauddin Ahmed (born July 31, 1944) is a Bangladeshi entrepreneur and charitable social reformer known for his contributions to his native area, Kushtia, and other parts of the country.[1] He is also a cultural leader and organizer of several institutions.[2][3]

Early life and education

Ahmed was born on July 31, 1944, in Chakarghua (now known as Alauddin Nagar) under Kumarkhali Upazila in Kushtia District. He completed his matriculation from Jessore Zilla School and HSC from Kushtia Govt. College. He obtained his B. Com degree in 1966 and studied Chartered Accountancy at Shaha Majumer & Co. in Bangladesh.[1][4]

Career

In 1969, Ahmed obtained the license to become an income tax officer and started his career as an income tax lawyer the following year. He concentrated on his entrepreneurship from 1980 and established himself as an income tax advisor. He started businesses including flour mills, dairies, agricultural farms, and pharmaceutical industries. Currently, he holds the positions of Managing Director, Chairman, and Executive Director of Healthcare Group of Companies, Alo Multipurpose Company Ltd, and Shilaidah Dairy Farm.[5][6]

Works

Ahmed initiated the establishment of educational institutions in Kushtia, including Alauddin Ahmed Secondary School, Alauddin Ahmed Cadet Academy, Alauddin Ahmed Degree College, Alauddin Ahmed Physical Institute, and Alauddin Ahmed Teachers Training College. His birthplace, Chakarguha, was renamed to Alauddin Nagar in his honor.[2][7][8]

Personal Life

Ahmed is married to Suraiya Bilkis.[1][9]
