Alaul Hossain (born 3 July 1980) is a Bangladeshi poet, researcher and lyricist. He is primarily known as a prominent poet of the 2000s generation. For his contributions to literature, he was honored with the Shadhinota Smriti Porishod Award in 2022. He currently serves as a teacher in the Department of Bengali at Mashundia Bhawanipur Khondakar Jobeda Begum Degree College in Pabna.[1]

Early life and education

Alaul Hossain was born on 3 July 1980 in Pabna District, Bangladesh. His father, the late Abul Hossain, was a government official and a litterateur. He completed his SSC from Kashinathpur Abdul Latif High School in 1995 and HSC from Kashinathpur Shahid Nurul Hossain Degree College in 1997. Later, he obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Bengali Language and Literature under the National University.[2]

Career

Alaul Hossain began his teaching career in 2003 at the renowned Al-Hera Academy in Bera.[3] Later, he taught at several institutions, including National Ideal College in Dhaka.[4]

Apart from teaching, he is involved in journalism and editing. He serves as the Executive Editor of the online news portal abcbarta.com and is a regular columnist on educational issues for bdnews24.com.[5]

Literary and musical works

Alaul Hossain started his literary journey in the mid-1990s. His poetry often explores existentialism and mysticism. One of his most notable poetry collections is Kabitar Attohonnon (Self-destruction of Poetry).[6]

He is also a recognized lyricist. Over fifty of his songs have been recorded and released as music videos by popular Bangladeshi vocalists.[7]
