Aleix Viu (born 3 October 2000) is a Spanish Grand Prix motorcycle racer.
Career
Early career
As a child, Aleix saw motorcycle racing on television and began to like it. In 2009, he participated in the Copa Catalana Promovelocidad Promo RACC 50cc Categoria Rookies and placed third. Aleix then raced in various Mini GP, PreGP and PreMoto championships in 2011–2014.
Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup
Aleix debuted in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2015. The Spaniard got his best finish in fifth position and ended the season in 13th place. His form improved a year later, earning wins at Jerez 1 and Red Bull Ring 2. He managed to become runner-up in the 2016 season. Aleix was runner-up again in 2017 after picking up two wins and seven podiums.
FIM CEV Moto3
Aleix made his FIM CEV Moto3 debut in the 2017 season with 42Motorsport. Riding a KTM, Aleix got three top ten finishes and finished his inaugural season in 15th place. The Red Bull MotoGP Rookies runner-up got his first podium at Valencia 1 and his first win in France a year later. He finished eighth in the 2018 season.
In 2019, Aleix moved to the Angel Nieto Junior Team, but instead showed a decline in performance. Aleix only got one podium and ended the season in 13th place with 42 points.
Moto3
Aleix debuted in the Moto3 world championship in 2017 in the Catalunya race in the 42 Motorsport team. He finished the race in 28th position. Two years later, Aleix returned to the Moto3 series in Argentina and America, becoming a substitute for the injured Albert Arenas. Aleix finished 19th in Argentina, but failed to finish the race in America. He was ranked 42nd at the end of the season
