Alejandro Serralde
Alejandro Serralde (born August 21, 1980 – present) is a Mexican-Australian entrepreneur and one of the modern pioneers of management tools and practices for success. He was a protégé of Dr. W.J. Reddin[1] and mentee of bestselling author Dr. Robin Stuart-Kotze[2], with whom he is now a co-author of the books Los Siete Secretos de los Líderes Altamente Efectivos[3] and Success: qué hacer (y dejar de hacer) para ser más exitoso en tu trabajo[4]. Since 2016, Alejandro has been Managing Director of Reddin Assessments[5].
Early life and education
Alejandro was born in Cuernavaca, Mexico. He is one of two siblings, and was educated in a Waldorf school, where he focused on the arts, sculpting, music, and theatre. His family frequently traveled between South America, the United States, and Europe, which led him to study English Literature and Dramatic Arts at Cambridge at a young age. In 1999, he entered the University of the Americas[6] to study engineering, later switching to business and economics. He graduated in 2003 with Magna Cum Laude, which earned him a scholarship to pursue his MBA with the School of Marketing and International Business, including an exchange program with EMLYON[7], France. He graduated Cum Laude.
Career
Alejandro joined the investment arm of Westpac Banking Corporation, BT Financial Group in 2007; the bank was becoming the largest institutional and retail bank in Australia. He eventually became one of the youngest Project Associates to work in transformational programs to merge the bank with Asgard. He left his job to pursue larger infrastructure transmission line projects with ElectraNet South and Powerlink Queensland, focusing on innovative and clean energy projects, however, these projects did not materialize. During an interview, Alejandro stated, “I was always very diligent in my projects, keeping every single variable on track, however some of my projects failed because of the people factor”. Alejandro's experience led him to a career change: he ultimately left his corporate position and moved in 2011 to Seattle and then to Miami to join what is now Reddin Assessments. With this change, he began leading transformational programs, using behavioral tools, driving unfreezing training techniques developed by Kurt Lewin[8], and developing capabilities and managerial effectiveness. Currently, his company serves approximately 200 clients worldwide in the Biotechnology, Banking, Consumer Goods, Government, Retail, Pharma, and Aerospace industries. Since 2016, Alejandro has specialized in connecting hard behavioral data into business practices.
Work
Alejandro has a deep understanding of the corporate world and business principles. He is known for designing agile leadership assessments and making them highly applicable to business professionals. Supported by the 3D Theory[9], he adapted Reddin's technology to be relevant for the 21st century. Alejandro often describes himself as having three roles: a consultant, a storyteller, and a content producer. A consultant needs experience and expertise to channel knowledge; a storyteller uses compelling narratives to convey messages; and a content producer creates exercises and team dynamics to foster self-awareness and drive change for success.
Personal life
Alejandro is married to Valentina and resides between Los Angeles, Miami, and travels internationally based on client needs. Although influenced by his father's business acumen, he possesses a creative spirit, inherited from his mother, and enjoys art, classical music, and writing. His favorite hobbies are watercolor painting, singing, and, thanks to his mentor Dr. Robin Stuart-Kotze[2], he has incorporated writing into his life.
Contribution
Influenced by his Waldorf education[10], Alejandro consistently supports his community and provides pro bono services to several foundations. He joined City Care Network in 2007 to assist and provide social support to vulnerable elderly individuals. In 2009, he joined MOTT, an international non-profit, non-political society dedicated to planting, maintaining, and protecting trees. In 2011, he joined Together We Are Equal[11], a social inclusion NGO that trains young people as volunteers to accompany people with disabilities to participate in summer camps and other social activities. More recently, in 2016, Alejandro joined America Developing Smiles[12], a NPO dedicated to financially supporting children and youth in various Latin American countries. He has been able to contribute using his managerial experience, but also by actively engaging and contributing to achieve positive outcomes.
