Aleksandar Lazarevic

Aleksandar Lazarevic (Serbian Cyrillic: Александар Лазаревић) is an AI / Data Science executive with extensive experience in applying AI and data analytics in various industries ranging from health care, smart manufacturing and security to banking, credit and insurance industry.

Aleksandar has been doing Data Analytics / Data Science since he started his PhD in Machine Learning. Although still a new area at that time, machine learning was so fascinating to him that he ended up working in this field his entire career. Since then he has been quite passionate about applying data analytics technologies in driving a business value and helping people live better life. He has been doing a lot of innovative research, but he has also led many analytics organizations [1] across the multiple Fortune 500 companies such as Stanley, Black & Decker, Aetna, Travelers and Raytheon (previously United Technologies Corporation).

He has been continuously recognized for his scientific and leadership work in this area. He has been recently voted a Top 100 Data Innovator [2] by Corinium Chief Data Officer community, and his analytics organization at Stanley Black & Decker has received a nation-wide FutureEdge50 Award [3], rewarded by CIO (IDG.com) for organizations pushing the edge with new technologies.

Aleksandar has contributed to data analytics through many publications, patents and professional services. He has written a book on data analytics in cyber security [4] and published eight book chapters and over 50 research data science articles [5], which were cited more than 6,500 times. In the last few years, he has been popularizing data science / analytics by giving invited / keynote talks at Chief Data Analytics Officer events, Gartner Executive summits, and other data science conferences. He also serves on a Data Robot Executive Customer Advisory Board and as a technical board advisor for a few startup companies. His two most recent articles on trends in data science [6] and about quantum computing in data analytics [7] were published in CIO Applications magazine and were used to promote data science in the broader community. Finally, he has also given interviews in several podcasts that popularized data science.

He earned his PhD degree in Machine Learning from the Computer and Information Science Department at Temple University in Philadelphia. He also earned B.Sc and M.Sc. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Belgrade's School of Electrical Engineering.

He currently lives in Connecticut with his family.
