Aleksandra Janeva

Aleksandra Janeva (born May 05, 1995 in Strumica) is a Macedonian pop-singer. She is a winner of the music show „Site nashi pesni“ broadcasted by the Macedonian Radio Television in 2013 and the pop music festival „Makfest“ in 2013 and 2016.

Biography

The beginnings

Aleksandra Janeva has shown interest in music since she was very young. Her first official appearances in front of audience happened during her elementary school shows. Later, as a student of the Strumica gymnasium she became the most prominent solo performer at the choir of the gymnasium named „Jane Sandanski“. She also attended a number of gigs with the high school choir as well as solo, for which she has a lot of rewards. She has been performing as a front singer of the local band "Alarm" with whom she promoted her first single titled „Ne me dopiraj“. For a short time she was a member of the Studio of modern ballet "Gazelles". Her appearance at the Easter concert in Strumica, 2010, was one of her most remarkable ones and it drawed attention from a number of different media , who since then have started comparing her to worldwide renowned singers such as Adele and Jessie J.

Win at the competition "French Chanson"

Aleksandra Janeva attended and won the competition of French chanson which was held March 03, 2013, in the theater Frosina. The best three performers out of fourteen were chosen by an expert jury under the basis of different criteria such as musicality, performance and knowledge of the french language. Aleksandra won with the cover of the song L’amour en heritage originally performed by Nana Mouskouri.

Win at the show „Site nashi pesni“

Aleksandra became more famous with the wider macedonian audience with winning at the show „Site nashi pesni“ - project of the Macedonian Radio Television for copyrights and affirmation of the macedonian music. The show was a competition of young music talents from two cities, in every show, after which two other cities follow. The team of Strumica city went through all the four rounds, from an elimination system, they placed in the quarter finals, though to the semi-finals and the finals at last. The team elimination was done under the supervision of the expert jury comprised of one of the most prominent musicians on the macedonian stage such as Kaliopi, Risto Samardziev and Igor Dzambazov. Aleksandra presented herself with the songs "Mesechina" by Kaliopi , "Zaludno e" by Tamara Todevska, and "Priznavam" by Marijana and Rosana.

First Win at Makfest 2013

At her first festival participation, the 18 year old Aleksandra as a first time contestant, triumphed at the 28th edition of the pop music festival "Makfest" in the city of Shtip with the song "Vrati mi go sonceto (Bring me back my sun)". The author of the music and the lyrics is Risto Samardziev, and the arrangment was made by Vladimir Dojchinovski - Dojchin. Besides the main acknowledment for the song as the best song according to the audience for which she got the statuette "Makfest", Aleksandra also won the award for best vocal interpretation. She won the most votes in the first semi final night. The audience and the music connoisseurs commented that her song along with her performance has been one of the best in the last fifteen years

After Makfest 2013

In november 2013, Aleksandra participated in the renowned "Skopski festival" with the composition "Losh den". The author of the music and the lyrics is Blazhe Temelkov, while the arrangement was done by Andrijana Janevska. She had a quite noticeable performance, but ended up without winning a prize.

Year of festivals 2014

In january 2014, for the occasion of a national holiday, the Macedonian Opera and Ballet arranged the concert under the conductance of Sasha Nikolovski- Gjumar - "Filmski noti. A lot of top notch opera soloists, celebrities and the choir and orchestra of the Macedonian opera and ballet which performed with famous songs from movies such as "The godfather", "Hair", "Mask of Zoro", "The Bodyguard" and others. Aleksandra presented herself with a cover of the song " I have nothing" from the movie "The Bodyguard".

For Aleksandra the year 2014 is a a year of 3/3 macedonian competition festivals. Between 5-7th of June she performs in Shtip at Makfest 2014 with the song "Spremna sum". The music is of Grigor Koprov, lyrics of Borche Dimitrov, and the arrangement is one made by Vladimir Dojchinovski.

In august 2014 she participated at Ohrid Fest and she won the recognition of the best interpretation. She performed with the composition "Angel". Music composed by Kiril Cvetkovski, lyrics by Miodrag Vrchakovski and arrangement made by Vladimir Dojchinovski.

In november 2014 she had her second appearance at "Skopski festival" which also was a Eurovison song contest of Macedonia. She performed with the song "Vo tvojot svet", music by Vancho Dimitrov, lyrics by Ana Pandevska and arrangement by Damjan Lazarov. She won 9th place out of twenty competitors.

Between the 16th-18th May 2014 Aleksandra Janeva was a part of the international festival "Discovery 2014" which was held in Varna, Bulgaria where she competed with the song she won at Makfest 2013 , "Vrati mi go sonceto" , in the category for best song. In the cathegory for best vocal, Aleksandra competed with the song "Hallelujah" covered by Aleksandra Burke.

Aleksandra brought two awards back home, third place for the cathegory of best vocal and a special recognition award "Upcoming act 2014" for which the festival organization enabled her to film a music video. In august 2014 she had one of her most remarkable appearances in front of 30.000 people at the festival "Strumica Open". She appeared as a big upcoming music star from Strumica at the closing of the festival just before the main event, before Zdravko Cholic showed up at the scene.

Projects in 2015

Traditionally , in January 2015 just as in January 2014, Aleksandra participated in the "Василичарски концерт". The concert was named "The best of the best". She sang the song "Месечина(Moon)" by Kaliopi, which triggered loud applause and ovations from the audience.

In march 2015 Aleksandra became a part of the music project called COVERLAND. She, as a main vocalist in a period of one year, sang together with her new band consisting of nine instrumentalists from the Macedonian Opera and Ballet. Besides the vocals, there were instruments such as saxophone, piano, drums, bass guitars, two violins, viola and a cello. The project goal was to do covers of the most popular songs from the top lists in the world with hits from Emili Sande, Rihanna, One Republic, David Guetta, John Newman.

Aleksandra also responded to an invitation for the 2015 Strumica Open festival where she attended together with DJ Zorr Alex, with a song they made together named "Where you shine", which later becomes an anthem of the festival.

First solo concert in 2016

After her first participation at the Easter concert back in 2012, everyone including the media were expecting a concert from Aleksandra, or how some of the media would say, the "Macedonian Jessie J" . As a sign of appreciation and gratitude for the support she was given from the city of Strumica, Aleksandra together with COVERLAND arranged a humanitarian concert, and the funds gained from it were donated to charity.

Second win at Makfest 2016

At the 31st edition of "Makfest" Aleksandra won her second statuette as a winner of the festival. She also won the award for best vocal interpretation "Dragan Karanfilovski - Bojs". Aleksandra at the 2016 "Makfest" concert came out in a dress made by Emili Pisheva Godzirova and makeup made by Dragan Gocev - Daci. She sang the song "Za sto godini" composed by Risto Samardziev and Vladimir Dojchinovski, the same team which won at the Makfest 2013.

After Makfest 2016

Aleksandra attended at the 23-rd edition of the International Festival Ohrid Fest - "Ohridski Trubaduri" from August 22-25 2016. There she promoted her most recent song "Najmilo Moe" which was made by Risto Samardziev and Vladimir Dojchinovski aswell. This song was something different, with a peculiar, dynamic sound vibe to it. She comes back from that festival with two awards - Best lyrics and best arrangement. In October she also made a video for the same song in a collaboration with Dario Jankovic.

Yearly award 2016

At the age of 21, Aleksandra won the prestigious award from the city of Strumica for her contribution in the field of culture. She received the award in the hall "Anton Panov" on December 10th 2016, in a special edition of the council of the city of Strumica where she had a live performance. She becomes one of the youngest performers to receive a recognition like this in any area.

The beginning of 2017

Towards the end of February, Aleksandra published her single "Solza za kraj" with a music video to it. The complete author of the song is Gorgi Krstevski, and the production of the music video was made by KM Entertainment. This song was second collaboration with Gorgi Krstevski, after the success they made with the first song "Eve me pak" In April she also published a cover of a song by None Nedelkovska, "Zosto bas ti". Behind this cover were famous authors and composers such as Jovan Jovanov (music), Elvir Mekic (lyrics) and Ile Spasev (arrangement), while the music video was made by Rewind production together with Gorgi Vacev.

Second solo concert 2017

After the spectacular solo concert in 2016, Aleksandra returned before the audience of Strumica with a big concert in the open. On August 9th, within the program of The Strumica Open festival, she sang her biggest hits in front of two thousand fans, At the concert named "Aleksandra Janeva & Friends" stars such as Risto Samardziev, Antonia Gigovska, Filip Peshevski, 2BE, Panche Iliev Kasapski and Ile Spasev appeared as guests. The articles in the media after the concert had topics such as "Aleksandra Janeva & friends did a concert which won't be forgotten for years to com", and "The star of Strumica".

Thirty minute show at the "Makfest" 2017

As a two time winner of the festival for pop melodies "Makfest", Aleksandra is going to have her own show and performance at this year's edition. Her thirty-minute mini concert lasted during the voting time at the finals on October 7th.

The single "Bam Bam"

On November 16th she published a song with a video in a cooperation with Inovative Production. "Bam Bam" is the first project of the talented Marko Marinkovik - Slatkaristika who is the author of the music and the lyrics of the reggaeton song. The arrangement was done by Ivan Jovanov - Iwayo, while the music video was made by Boshko Stolik. With this song, the singer made a first time contact and cooperation with the german-bulgarian production Facing the sun.

Christmas cover with the band 2BE

Together with her band 2BE, she performed all over Macedonia and released the cover of the mega-hit Perfect by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce. The new audio and video of the pop-singer was a Christmas treat for her fans. As a gratitude of the support for 2017, at the end of December she releases a recapitulation video of all of her media appearances and singles.

Single "Ke se vratam nekoj den"

On May 13th 2018 she published a new single with a video, for which the author of the music was Panche Kasapski, arrangement and production was made by Ile spasev and the co-author lyrics of Ognen Nedelkovski and Panche Kasapski. The video was made by Gorgi Vacev and his Rewind production in different locations in Greece.

Cooperation with Natasha Malinkova

Aleksandra made her first duet single in her career on June 28th, 2018. The song was published at the channel Facing the Sun with a video made by Gorgi Vacev, Pece Zdravkovski and Borche Georgiev from Rewind production. The author of the song is Stojanche Avramov, and the production and arrangement was made between him and Zoran Aleksic. Aleksandra lists herself as a co-author for the first time, for her own song.

Summer Jam 2018

In June 2018, Aleksandra asked her fans for opinions for songs to cover, through the social media. The first cover from the project #summerjam was the song "Heroj" by Viktorija Loba, which was viewed 40.000 times on YouTube. The second and most popular cover was the female version of the song "Kilometri" by Lozano. "US" and "Ако ме сакаш" were the other two covers which totaled with over more than 150.000 views.

The single "Srce otvori"

On February 28th 2918, Aleksandra released a new single with a video , music made by Panche Kasapski and Ile Spasev, arrangement and production done by Ile Spasev and lyrics made by Ognen Nedelkovski. The video was made by Pinestel production.
