Artificial Intelligence

Throughout his book, Becoming Artificial: A Philosophical Exploration Into Artificial Intelligence and What It Means to Be Human,[1] Alessandro examines Artificial Intelligence from both a pragmatic and philosophical perspective. As part of the book, several essays are presented analyzing humanity, technology, artifice, and their irreducible interconnectedness. Over the past two decades, a number of game-changing innovations have been developed that have transformed the discussion of artificial intelligence from an armchair speculation to one that is of serious importance to everyone affected by it, including policy makers and displaced workers. Following the rapid development of artificial intelligence algorithms and systems, this book addresses many questions. Are humans fundamentally different from humans, or are they simply biological computers? Is artificial intelligence likely to assist us or eventually enslave us? Is it possible for autonomous cars to be held legally accountable for their actions? In addition, how can we ensure that society enjoys a humane and beneficial future with artificial intelligence?
