Alex Faust
Alex Faust is an American sports broadcaster currently doing play-by-play for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League. Alex Faust was hired in June 2017 following the retirement of Bob Miller.[1]
Broadcasting Career[edit]
Faust started doing play-by-play in college at Northeastern University. In 2011 as a junior, he was given the Jim Nantz award for his talent in sportscasting at the collegiate level. Upon graduating in 2012 from the university with a degree in political science and economics, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a data analyst. His career hit off when the newly-relocated Utica Comets of the American Hockey League hired him as a radio broadcaster.[2] In 2015, he was an Inside-the-glass reporter for the AHL's All Star Game. He also continued to call hockey and basketball games for his now-former college until 2016, including calling their NCAA tournament appearance on GoNUxstream.[3]
In 2016, Faust quit his job at PwC to pursue sportscasting as a career. He worked as a freelancer, picking up jobs with NESN, Fox Sports, and ESPN calling college baseball, basketball, and football. Faust also began calling college hockey for NBCSN.[4]
On March 1, 2017, Bob Miller of the Kings announced he would be retiring at the end of the 2016–17 NHL season. On March 24, Mike Connelly, Senior Vice President and Executive Producer at Fox Sports interviewed Faust for the position. During the interview, Connelly decided to record a hockey game on NBCSN for Monday. That game, Blackhawks at Lightning, would be Alex's first NHL game.[5]
On June 1, 2017, the Kings announced they hired Alex Faust as their play-by-play announcer. He called his first preseason game on September 30 and his first regular season game with the Kings on October 6. Alex Faust also continues to be a announcer for the NHL on NBC.[6][7]
Personal Life[edit]
Faust was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He lives in Southern California with his fiancé Carolyn.[8]
