Alex Harvey (born Thomas Alexander Harvey) is an American country singer born in rural Haywood County, Tennessee on March 10, 1947.[1]
History[edit]
Alex Harvey performed and recorded as a country musician throughout the 70s and 80s. His tunes have been recorded by many significant artists such as Bette Midler, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Buffett, Eydie Gormé, Henry Mancini, Peggy Lee, and Sammy Davis Jr.[2] Kenny Rogers alone has recorded over a dozen Alex Harvey songs.
Harvey studied at Murray State University in Kentucky, graduating with a Master's Degree, and he also studied acting in Los Angeles. Two of Alex Harvey's greatest hits were "Reuben James," famously recorded by Kenny Rogers, and "Delta Dawn," famously recorded by Tanya Tucker.[3]
