Alex Pineschi (17 October 1983 – 23 May 2026) was an Italian soldier, tactical trainer, and writer.

He gained international recognition primarily for documenting his military and security deployments abroad through online blogs.

Biography

Early life and military service

Pineschi was born in La Spezia, Italy. His only passions were the motobikes and of course the firearms. So ended the secondary school, at just eighteen y.o., he immediately joined the Italian Army and served in the Alpine Brigade "Julia".

Subsequently, disappointed by the poor professionalism and the low quality of the Italian army, he went to the USA where he attended an academy whose name and location have never been revealed.

Iraq and Syria (2014–2019)

At the beggining he worked some months as naval contractor and private security (anti piracy and counter terrorism). Then, in 2014, Pineschi went to Iraqi Kurdistan. He became a volunteer fighter with the Peshmerga forces to fight against the Islamic State. He worked as an instructor and trained local units, including Christian and Yazidi volunteers.[1]

He also worked with the humanitarian organization Emergency to protect medical workers and civilians. The first time that he returned to Italy, that's in 2017, police investigated him, but the case was closed in four months because he was declared just a "volunteer", and not a mercenary or a contractor.

APTAC and training

Once back in Italy, Pineschi started APTAC (Alex Pineschi Tactical) in the province of Pavia, Italy. His company taught tactical firearms training and security, both for civilians and law enforcements.

Ukraine and Death (2022–2026)

In 2022, Pineschi went to Ukraine to fight against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Later, he signed a contract with the Ukrainian army and joined a military intelligence special operations unit. On 23 May 2026, Pineschi was killed at the age of 42 during a drone attack in eastern Ukraine, near Lyman.[2][3]
