Alex Randall Kittredge is a United States-based author, entrepreneur and advisor whose work focuses on business transformation, human resources, mergers and acquisitions.[1] He is the creator of the ARK Strategy newsletter on Substack and the founder of APR Strategic Consulting, through which he advises founders, investors and executives on people systems and workforce strategy.[1] He has published several short works on Michel Foucault, Immanuel Kant and Gary Becker.[2][3]
Early life and education
Kittredge studied at Columbia University and the University of Cambridge. His MPhil dissertation, Foucault, Liberalism, and the Islamic Revolution in Iran (2017), examined Michel Foucault’s writings on the 1978–79 Iranian Revolution and their relationship to his Biopolitics lectures at the Collège de France on liberalism and neoliberalism; a copy of which is housed in the Seeley Historical Library at the University of Cambridge.[4][5][6]
When living in the United Kingdom as a visiting student at the University of Oxford he also sailed competitively; in 2015 he was a crew member of Oxford University’s Oxford Blue team at the BUCS-BUSA Student Yachting Championship, where Oxford finished second overall and qualified to represent England at the Student Yachting World Cup in La Baule-Escoublac, France in 2016.[7][8]
In 2017 Kittredge captained the Cambridge University Varsity Blues team at the inaugural International Top Universities Regatta (ITUR) in Qingdao, China, where the team took first place overall in a fleet of international crews;[9] the regatta formed part of Qingdao International Sailing Week.[10][11][12][13]
Career
Business and consulting
After university, Kittredge worked as an intelligence analyst before moving into people and transformation roles in finance and industry.[14]
He has overseen M&A integrations, strategic workforce planning for large enterprises and board-level initiatives for CEOs.[15] Through APR Strategic Consulting and related advisory work he focuses on HR transformation, workforce strategy and de-risking deals for founders and investors.[1]
Kittredge also participates in Oxford- and Cambridge-affiliated entrepreneurial networks as a mentor and program manager.[15]
ARK Strategy and media work
In 2025 Kittredge launched ARK Strategy, a Substack newsletter about modern work and portfolio careers.[16] ARK Strategy falls within Substack's philosophy category, with more than 1,000 free subscribers.[14] Kittredge regularly collaborates with other publications on professional branding and the use of AI in knowledge work.[17]

Kittredge's early published work draws on his research in political theory and intellectual history. Blackwells lists several short works by him, including:

In 2016, he co-authored an opinion piece titled "Statue of Limitations" in the Columbia Daily Spectator criticising Columbia University's plan to install Henry Moore's bronze Reclining Figure 1969–70 in front of Butler Library and arguing that the work would disrupt the campus's neoclassical symmetry.[22] The op-ed and accompanying petition attracted international coverage in arts and general media, including Artnet News, The Guardian, Hyperallergic and The Daily Telegraph, and prompted a public response from Henry Moore Foundation director Godfrey Worsdale defending the sculpture and welcoming debate about Moore's public work.[23][24][25][26]
Beyond academic writing, Kittredge publishes essays, memos and career frameworks on ARK Strategy and on LinkedIn, where he writes about topics such as portfolio careers, HR strategy and the impact of artificial intelligence on organisational design.[16][27]
Personal life
Kittredge is based in Brooklyn, New York City.[28] In April 2025 he married Gregg Kittredge Bonti; their relationship and wedding were profiled in a New York Times Vows column entitled "Their Love 'Moved the Earth'".[28]
