Alex Wassabi
Alex Burriss, better known as Alex Wassabi, is an American YouTuber and actor.[1] He started off his career with creating a YouTube channel in 2008 with Roi Fabito, titled "Wassabi Productions" (now "Wassabi") which as 2019, has reached over 11 million subscribers. Burriss has also pursued acting ventures, and has appeared in YouTube Red series Escape the Night[2][3], horror-comedy movie Boo 2! A Madea Halloween[4], and other films and television.

Early life[edit]
Burriss was born in Montana on March 28, 1990,[5][6] to parents Maribel Burriss and Adam Burriss. He was raised alongside his other siblings, Aaron, Andrew, and Mariah.[5][7]
Career[edit]
In 2008, Burriss created a YouTube channel with friend Roi Fabito, more commonly known as Guava Juice or Roi Wassabi. They called the channel "Wassabi Productions." The channel consists of various skits and vlogs, including parody music videos. On April 7, 2012, the channel uploaded the video "Carly Rae Jepsen CALL ME MAYBE - Rolanda & Richard (Parody)" consisting of a parody of Carly Rae Jepsen's music video of the same name.[8] The video consists of Burriss crushing on a girl named Rolanda (portrayed by Fabito) who from at first sight he thought was cute, but to his dismay after getting a closer look, turned to be "ugly, gross and smelly."[9] The video has gained over 134 million views as of July 2019, and brought the Wassabi-duo much fame. More of their parodies and skits went on to gain millions and millions of views, such as their "You're so immature!" series and the "You're so girly!" series, granting them a hefty amount of subscribers throughout the channel's history.
On January 27, 2016, a video entitled "Goodbye, Roi Wassabi" was uploaded announcing that Fabito was going to leave Wassabi Productions, due to wanting to pursue his own YouTube channel.[10] Burriss went on to continue the channel on his own, and continued doing the "Wassabi Wednesdays" like the pair had always been.[10]
Burriss has also went on and pursed acting. In 2016, he appeared on television series Anime Crimes Division, a show created by RocketJump and Crunchyroll.[11] He did not recieve broad notoriety for this role as the show was not very popular.[11] He then went on to appear in YouTube Red original series Escape the Night in the show's second season as "the novelist."[3] He then returned in the show's fourth season as "the aviator."[12] The show is hosted by Joey Graceffa.[12] He has also appeared as Allen in Tyler Perry's Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, and is currently appearing in ongoing Hulu original series, Light as a Feather, in the show's second season.[13][14][15]
Personal life[edit]
In 2015, Burniss had started dating YouTuber Lauren Riihimaki, who is known for doing various beauty-related videos.[16] They were in a relationship until 2018, when the pair had broken up.[17] They had done various videos together on his channel.
