Alex Woodward is a performer from Brisbane, Australia. Alex started his career after high school in bands and made his musical theatre debut in Sydney Theatre Company's production of "Spring Awakening". In 2012, Alex joined the pop band "Streamer Bendy" and recorded an album in Sweden and the US with their debut single, "You're So Cool" receiving domestic and international airplay. Alex left the band in 2015 to pursue his love of musical theatre and continue his education at the Queensland Conservatorium.

Classical Education[edit]

Alex has been classically educated in the fields of drama, singing and dance from 2006 onwards and continues to pursue his educational aspirations.

He attended Opera Queensland for operatic training from 2006 - 2012 before moving on to complete a Bachelor of Music Theatre from 2013 - 2015 at the Queensland Conservatorium.

Alex also undertook a variety of private drama lessons, Masterclass series and Acting for Film courses from 2009 through to 2015; as well as intermediate classes in Jazz and Tap styles of dance.

Musical Career[edit]

In 2011 Alex joined Brisbane pop band "Streamer Bendy" to embrace his love of top 40 music. The band was signed and recorded their album "Sugar Rush" Internationally in Sweden and America. The group wrote and recorded with the people responsible for hits by P!nk, The Rasmus, Vanessa Amorosi and many more.

Their debut single "You're So Cool" obtained radio success being played internationally and all across Australia on the Austereo network.

After three years of working with the band Alex decided to move on with his career and return to his love of music theatre and further his education at the Queensland Conservatorium under the leadership of internationally recognised MD and Educator Paul Sabey.

Musical Theatre[edit]

Alex has performed in a wide variety of musical theatres during his further training including Mickey in Blood Brothers, Jesus in Godspell and Will Parker in Oklahoma! to name a few. Whilst performing these roles, he also used his extensive abilities to perform in cabarets and local musical productions in Brisbane.

Since graduating University, Alex has continued to grow and improve, playing Tommy Ross in Carrie the Musical, Eddie Birdlace in Dogfight and Sonny Latierri in the National Tour of Grease, The Arena Experience.
