Dr. Alexander Rivkin of Westside Aesthetics in Los Angeles

Dr. Alexander Rivkin (Born 9 November, 1968 in Odessa, USSR ) is the Medical Director and Owner of Westside Aesthetics in Los Angeles, CA and an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He is best known for having innovated and popularized the Non Surgical Nose Job procedure, which is now also known as Liquid Rhinoplasty or Non Surgical Rhinoplasty.

Education[edit]

Dr. Alexander Rivkin graduated from Columbia College, Columbia University in 1991 with a BA in Philosophy and Russian. He continued on to medical school and received his MD from Yale University School of Medicine in 1997. He completed a general surgery internship in 1998, and his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery was at the University of California, San Diego.

Career[edit]

During his residency, Dr. Rivkin became particularly interested in aesthetic procedures. Just at that time, Botox and Restylane were approved by the FDA. Realizing that these new tools represented the beginning of a non-surgical revolution in aesthetics, he decided to devote his career to exploring and pioneering non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Rivkin opened his clinic in Westwood, CA in 2003 and began to innovate and develop new procedures and techniques using dermal fillers and Botox. As his procedures, most notably the Non-Surgical Nose Job, became popular, they were featured extensively in local and national media.[1] and many physicians throughout the world began to adopt his techniques[2][3].

Dr. Rivkin has been teaching and lecturing on his techniques and other aspects of non-surgical aesthetics globally for more than 10 years. He has authored numerous publications[4] in the peer reviewed literature and he has participated as a Principal Investigator in many FDA trials, bringing novel injectables into the U.S. market. He was most recently the lead author on the U.S. FDA pivotal study on Volbella[5]

In 2010, Dr. Rivkin began teaching in the Systems Based Medicine Course at the David Geffen, UCLA School of Medicine. He was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor in 2013.

In 2014, Dr. Rivkin began seeing patients in Bahrain twice per year.

In 2016, Dr. Rivkin began to incorporate philanthropy, mentorship, and volunteering into his professional life. He is currently on the Executive Board of the Anti-Defamation League, where he co-chairs the Asian-Jewish Initiative and he is a Mentor Chair of the Russian Jewish Track of the Jewish Federation Community Leadership Institute. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of his local chapter of Indivisible.

Today, Dr. Rivkin divides his time between teaching physicians and nurses the fine points of non-minimally-invasive aesthetic procedures, seeing patients in his Brentwood, CA clinic, writing scientific papers on non-surgical aesthetics, and lecturing at conferences all over the world.

Dr. Rivkin serves on the Advisory Board and is a Physician Educator for Allergan, Galderma, Suneva, and Merz National Education Faculties.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty[edit]

In 2003, Dr. Rivkin started using recently FDA approved injectable fillers like Restylane and Radiesse to provide subtle aesthetic improvements to his patients' noses. He developed Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty.[2], a non-surgical in-office injectable procedure that consisted of strategically placing filler injections under the skin of the nose to achieve the desired cosmetic results. This was the first procedure to successfully modify the contours of the nose without surgery[4]

Dr. Rivkin's 2009 study of 385 patients remains the largest published experience with this technique in the world. He currently performs the procedure on a daily basis.
