Alfred Griffiths (died 8 March 1916) was an English professional goalkeeper who played for Newton Heath, later Manchester United.
Personal life
Griffiths served in the Second Boer War, and enlisted as a private soldier in the 1st Battalion, Manchester Regiment during the First World War. He was killed in action on 8 March 1916 in Ottoman Iraq. Having no known grave, he is commemorated on the Basra Memorial.[1][2]
