Alfred Kobsa is an Austrian computer scientist known for his work on personalization, user modeling, and human–computer interaction. He is professor emeritus at the University of California, Irvine.[1]

Biography

Kobsa received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Vienna. He held academic positions at the University of Konstanz and the University of Duisburg-Essen before joining the University of California, Irvine in 2000, where he became professor in 2003.[1]

His research focuses on personalization, recommender systems, privacy, and interactive systems.[1]

Awards

Kobsa received the Humboldt Research Award in 2006.[2] He was awarded a Mercator Fellowship by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in 2015.[3] He also received the Heinz Zemanek Award of the Austrian Computer Society.[4]
