Alfredo Frigolett Silva (1864 – ?) was a Chilean politician and businessman who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile.
A member of the Radical Party, he represented Valparaíso and Casablanca from 1912 to 1915. During his term, he proposed measures dealing with urban sanitation in Valparaíso, forestry, mining, livestock farming, irrigation and railway electrification. His proposals also included an eight-hour working day and a minimum wage.[1]
Biography
Frigolett was born in Petorca in 1864. His maternal grandfather, Manuel Felipe Silva, was a Liberal politician who served in the Chamber of Deputies in 1828.
He initially worked for Banco de Chile before going into business on his own. After moving to northern Chile, he operated a steam-powered brick factory and later entered the livestock trade. He subsequently established a lumber business.
Frigolett was active in the Radical Party in Valparaíso. Along with other party members, he helped establish the local Radical Assembly, the Radical Club and the newspaper La Tribuna. He also promoted the party's second convention, which was ultimately held in Santiago rather than Valparaíso.
In 1910, during the celebrations marking the centenary of Chilean independence, he organized a literary competition focused on prominent figures in the history of the Radical Party.
