He was awarded the title of Arab Tourism Ambassador for the year 2012 for his program “Diary of a Tourist”. He was chosen as a goodwill ambassador for youth and humanity at the United Nations. The Saudi authorities have arrested him since 9 September 2017.[2]

Early life

He was born in the city of Jeddah, and he is from the Al-Makhwah region in the south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His father is Hamza bin Ahmed Al-Alwani Al-Omari. He grew up from a young age with a love of knowledge and its people, and studied in the circles of Sheikh Al-Qarawi. His father was a Saudi consul in a number of countries, and throughout his work period he honored the scholars and preachers in the country in which he worked, and among his colleagues who loved him the most was the scholar and scholar of hadith Sheikh Abd al-Qadir al-Arnaout.[3]

And his grandfather, for his father, Sheikh Ahmed Al-Alwani, was one of the famous sheikhs in the region. Abd al-Aziz Ibn Baz sent him to preach in his region, and Sheikh Ahmed was a strong follower of the Sunnah, so that the sheikh of the hadeeth: Muhammad Nasir Al-Din Al-Albani said about him: I have never seen in my life a follower of the Sunnah and its effects like Sheikh Ahmed Al-Alwani. Sheikh Ali Al-Omari was greatly influenced by his grandfather in his devotional approach, and his keenness on the Sunnah.[3]

In September 2017, the Saudi authorities arrested Sheikh Ali Al-Omari.[4]
