Prolitec is an ambient scenting company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prolitec develops patented scent diffusion technologies and custom scented environments for commercial spaces [1]. AirQ™ is Prolitec's scent delivery system and is employed in an estimated 100,000 installations in 83 countries.
History
The company was founded in 1996 by Karim Benalikhoudja. From 2001 to 2004, Guillaume Besse was CEO of Prolitec SA. [2]. In 2004, Prolitec SA was sold to Richard Weening's private equity company Quaestus, [3] and moved from Montpellier and Paris to new headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As of the end of 2019, Richard Weening is still head of Prolitec's leadership team. Weening was formerly co-founder and Executive Chairman of Cumulus Media Inc.
Products
Prolitec is best known for diffusing Abercrombie and Fitch's most iconic scent, “Fierce,” since 2008. Other notable fragrances include:
- "Weiss-Vert-Noir," which was diffused at Silke Schöner at Dillon Gallery, New York
- “Grand Tepe #12,” designed by Fragrance Designer Christophe Laudamiel, was featured at the Gobekli Tepe Gala.
- "In the Spotlight," for Azul by Moussy stores throughout Japan, Hong Kong, and China.
In 2016, Prolitec's Aera for Home launched in the domestic market. It is endorsed by celebrities such as rapper and producer, T-Pain. It has also been featured in The New York Times.
Prolitec has the only patented technology with a removable, replaceable cartridge for use with a liquid diffusing device. The cartridge includes a venturi, a conduit extending to the venturi, a mixing area, and an outlet path for atomizing and dispersing a liquid within the cartridge.
Awards and Achievements
- 2011: Prolitec and Abercrombie & Fitch were named “Scent Marketers of the Year” at the 2011 ScentWorld Expo. The conference, held in Miami Beach, was sponsored by Scarsdale, NY-based Scent Marketing Institute (SMI) [4].
- 2013: Prolitec was the winner of Wisconsin's 2013 Governor's Export Achievement Awards in the "Small Business" category. Presented by the office of Gov. Scott Walker, the awards salute state firms and organizations that have achieved extraordinary results in international markets or that have contributed to Wisconsin's ability to compete in the global economy [5].
- Prolitec was featured on USA Today the following year as one of the largest ambient scenting companies, supplying scenting technology to well-known brands around the world. [6].
