Ali Qassim Al-Lawati He is an academic and advisor, and holds the position of studies and research advisor at the Diwan of Royal Court.[1][2] One of the pioneers of development and modernization work in the Arab region, starting from the Sultanate of Oman, where he worked for nearly thirty years to crystallize many strategic directions that are inseparable from reality and harmonize with global thought in all its vocabulary.[3]
His Positions[edit]
Ali is currently the Advisor for Studies and Research at the Diwan of Royal Court, Sultanate of Oman. Prior to his current position, Dr. Ali led and advised on a number of strategic initiatives and programmes in the public sector across the Middle East region.[4] Such programmes include overseeing a major government economic reform, establishing and implementing a socio-economic think-tank, developing a national innovation policy agenda, establishing a programme management office (PMO), establishing a national competitiveness office, and leading number of national leadership development programmes.[5]
His career[edit]
During his career, Dr. Ali worked with several organizations in the Sultanate and abroad, including with the Ministry of Information in Oman and College of Banking and Financial Studies in Muscat.[6] Dr. Ali has also worked with leading international consultancy firms including Booz Allen Hamilton (USA) and PA Consulting (UK) on a variety of projects in the region ranging from process improvement to strategy development. Dr Ali has also been affiliated to a number of leading academic institutions including Sultan Qaboos University, Yale School of Management, INSEAD, and Cranfield School of Management as a Research Fellow and Visiting Scholar in the areas of formulating public sector strategies, improving government's performance, and the development of leadership skills. He currently sits on a number of advisory boards including the American University in Cairo’s School of Business, and Thinkers 50 - a ranking of the world’s top 50 global management thinkers.[7]
His Study[edit]
Dr. Ali holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis (USA) and Ph.D. from Cranfield University (UK) in Technology Management.
His books and writings[edit]
Dr. Ali is a co-author of "Leading Smart Transformation: A roadmap for a world class government" published by Palgrave Macmillan in March 2011.[8] He has also written a number of Articles including:[9]
