Alisov climate classification

The Alisov climate classification is a climate classification developed by Boris Pavlovich Alisov (Алисов, Борис Павлович) who was a Soviet Union climatologist between the 1930s and 1950s.[1][2][3] The Köppen climate classification is based on vegetation, while the Alisov climate classification is based on the concept of air masses.[4] This climate classification scheme classifies climates into 7 major climatic belts – equatorial, subequatorial, tropical, subtropical, mid-latitude, subarctic/subantarctic, and arctic/antarctic.[5]
