Alithya Group Inc.
Alithya Group Inc.
Alithya Group Inc. is a North American company specializing in digital strategy and technologies.[1]. Founded in 1992, Alithya supports and assists its clients in achieving their business objectives, primarily through the optimization of digital technologies. Alithya services clients operating in a wide array of economic sectors, from the financial services industry to telecommunications, healthcare, transportation, energy, and government services. The company employs 2,000 people based in Canada, the United States, and Europe.
History
According to Ghyslain Rivard, the founder of the company, a dozen information technology employees of Mouvement Desjardins, a federation of North American credit unions, chose to found their own company in 1992, which they named CIA. In 1998, CGI purchased a minority stake in the company’s capital, which increased over the years until CGI owned 66% of the firm in 2010. In order to regain its independence and to have greater flexibility in the decision-making process, CIA bought back its shares from CGI that same year. Two investors participated in the buyout process and joined CIA: Pierre Turcotte, and Paul Raymond[2], both former CGI leaders.
In June 2012, the company merged with Sinapse. That same year, CIA-Sinapse[3] changed its name to Alithis in order to avoid confusion with the US Central Intelligence Agency, which also uses the acronym CIA. In 2013, Alithis changed its name to Alithya, which means "truth" in Greek.
