Alix Peabody
Alix Peabody is the founder and CEO of Bev, a mission-driven wine company. She founded Bev in 2017 after noticing a lack of inclusivity in drinking culture for women.
Early life and education[edit]
Peabody was born in New York City. She attended Dartmouth College, where she double majored in English and mathematics. She is the oldest of five siblings and speaks English, Italian, French, and Spanish.
Career[edit]
Bridgewater[edit]
After college, Peabody started her career as a tech recruiter at Bridgewater hedge fund. She later left due to ovarian health issues and cashed out her 401k to start Bev.
Bev[edit]
Following her departure from Bridgewater due to double ovarian torsion,[1] Peabody found herself in medical debt. To offset the cost, she began hosting ticketed pool parties[2] in Sonoma.
Inspired by the gender dynamics at these parties, Peabody decided to create a platform where women could "own their social fun." She moved to Los Angeles and cashed in her 401k to purchase 300 gallons of rosé[3] to create mission awareness.
Bev has since expanded to five varietals and is recognized as a top-producing wine in its category. In 2019, Bev received a 7 million dollar seed round from The Female Founders Fund.[4] In 2021, Bev partnered with E&J Gallo and closed a 10 million dollar series A round.[5]
Personal life[edit]
Peabody resides in Austin, Texas with her husband, Geoff Miles,[6] and their three cats.
