All India Poetess Conference (AIPC) is a Literary and Social Association of elite women of India. Its mission is to employ Poetry and Literature to empower women and liberate them from various social taboos and stigma that have plagued Indian women for centuries, and continue to fetter them to this day. It was founded by Dr. Lari Azad on 30th April 2000, when it held its Foundation Convention at Khurja (UP). Today, the organisation has international presence and has wide membership among the women of the Indian diaspora.[1][2] Most of its members are Poetesses, yet they come from all walks of life including Singers, Dancers, Artists, Administrators, Politicians, Professionals etc. AIPC is one of the biggest literary associations in the world.[3][4]
History
The All India Poetess Conference was born at the dawn of the 21st Century. Its founder Dr. Lari Azad, a well known litterateur, educationist and reformer, recounts that the inspiration behind this organization was his mother, whom he lost at a very early age.[5] He established this forum with the stalwart poetesses of the day like Amrita Pritam, Film Lyricist Maya Govind, Padmashri Padma Sachdev, Padmashri Prabhjot Kaur and Jnanpeeth Awardee Indira Goswami.[6] Ever since then, Presidents of various countries, Vice Presidents[7], Prime Ministers, Governors [1], Chief Ministers[8][9][10], Union and State Ministers[11][12][13], Ambassadors[14] and High Commissioners[15] as well as Celebrities[16] from various spheres of art and culture have joined them in their Conventions within India and abroad. Over the two decades, they have partnered with several Organizations and Institutes and also organized joint conventions with Sulabh International, GOPIO International (Mauritius), UNESCO World Peace Centre, Akhil Vishva Hindi Samiti (New York, USA), Geetanjali Multilingual Literary Circle (Birmingham,UK), Punjab Arts Council etc. Many universities across India have also hosted various sessions of AIPC which include University of Kerala, Karnataka State Open University, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, MAEER's MIT Pune among others.
Aims and Objectives
The All India Poetess Conference organizes Poetic sessions, Felicitation Functions, National Symposiums, Academic Seminars, Translation Workshops, Open Sessions, Book Releases, Multilingual Dialogues, Discussions on women problems, Traditional Cultural Exchange programmes and Foreign Tours, round the calendar.
