Allama Nurul Huda (Chowmuhani) (1929 – 10 December 2013; Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.), popularly known as Rampurer Boro Huzur, was a prominent Bangladeshi Deobandi Islamic scholar, educator, and spiritual figure. He served as the Principal (Muhtamim) of the historic Chowmuhani Islamia Arabia Madrasah in Noakhali for over 57 years.[1]
Early Life and Education
Nurul Huda was born in 1929 in Rampur village under Char Shahi Union of present-day Lakshmipur District. His father, Sufi Abdul Gani, was a respected local Islamic personality.[2]
He received his primary religious upbringing from his father. He completed his Fazil degree from Noakhali Islamia Alia Madrasah and subsequently earned his Kamil degree in Hadith and Fiqh from the Dhaka Alia Madrasah. For higher Islamic studies, he traveled to India and enrolled at Darul Uloom Deoband, where he completed the study of the Kutub al-Sittah (the six canonical Hadith books).[1]
Career and Legacy
Upon returning from Deoband in 1948, he joined Chowmuhani Madrasah as an assistant teacher. In 1956, he took over the role of Superintendent. When the institution transitioned fully into a Qomi madrasah system in 1976, he became its Principal (Muhtamim), a position he held continuously until his death in 2013.[2]
Alongside teaching, he was a spiritual disciple and Khalifa of the prominent saint Hafezzi Huzur. He also served as the district advisor for the political party Khelafat Majlish in Noakhali.[1]
Death
Allama Nurul Huda passed away on 10 December 2013 at a hospital in Noakhali at the age of 84. His funeral prayer (Janaza) was attended by tens of thousands of people, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the history of the Greater Noakhali region.[2]
