Allegheny International Services is a for profit, privately held, US-based healthcare company and consulting firm focusing on global healthcare development and continuing medical education, with operations based in southwestern Pennsylvania, United States centered around the largest city in the region, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Allegheny International Services originated in 1997 for the purpose of coordinating treatment for international patients,[2] and coordinating education for medical students and medical graduates at Pittsburgh’s Allegheny General Hospital within the Allegheny Health Network[3]. Allegheny International Services has brought patients and medical physicians originating from many different countries.[4]
Since its conception, Allegheny International Services has established affiliations with domestic and international health networks and hospitals[5] to coordinate and provide services at Allegheny General Hospital and other healthcare providers.[6] When Allegheny General Hospital encountered financial challenges in 1998,[7] the international program's Chairman Dr. Amr Elrifai decided to maintain the company as a private entity, officially registering it as Allegheny International Services in 1999.[8] The international program then operated as contractors for the health network.[9]
Allegheny International Services currently maintains operations in South America[10] and the Middle East[11]. Their current focus is on new hospital development[12] and hospital management in countries like Qatar[13] and Brazil.[14] For these projects, new affiliate entities of Allegheny International have been established. For Middle Eastern operations,[15] the title of Allegheny International Services Middle East is used (AISME). For Latin American operations, the title of Allegheny International Services Latin America is used, (AISLA).

Trademark Protection
Allegheny International Services[17] should be differentiated from another company called Allegheny International Incorporated, the remains of the latter being purchased by Sunbeam-Oster in 1989.[18] The two companies are unrelated, of different industries, and their registered names and trademarks are different.[19]
