Alonso Grandio (born June 15, 1989) is a Mexican actor. Alonso was born and raised in Mexico, where he caught the acting bug by being cast as a Roman soldier for a school production when he was 15.

Alonso had his professional debut with a very small role in Furious 7, though he was no stranger to working behind the camera, having had roles in independent and student productions beforehand. Alonso continues to make his way to the top of the industry as he books bigger and more interesting roles in his career. Currently, Grandio is living and working in South Africa.

Early life

Alonso Grandio was born on June 15, 1989, in Mexico City, Mexico. He is the son of Alejandro Grandio Andion and Aida Maria Alegria Goizueta. Both of Alonso's parents encouraged his dream of being an actor, as long as he provided them with a Bachelor's degree and completed his studies. As a child, he always seemed to show interest in being in the spotlight and performing, even if it was just to put on a couple of family shows. Alonso liked telling stories.

His mother took him to a commercial audition when Alonso was 8 years old. He was fascinated by the process and the opportunity, even though he did not book the role, Alonso was forever hooked.

2010s: Theater and film debut

One of Grandio's first professional jobs in 2014 was at The Little Theater in Santa Monica, in which he portrayed 'Badger' in a production of The Wind in the Willows. Living in Los Angeles allowed Alonso to go to auditions and perform in independent theater and film productions while he was getting his acting certificate from the New York Film Academy. Alonso was glad to be part of a school with a big "Hands-On program".

Being in the "City of Angels" allowed him to grow very quickly both personally and professionally. As a Mexican actor, he struggled to get roles as his appearance, accent, and nationality did not match. Alonso started to train himself on developing and performing different types of accents so he could fit into any production.

Alonso met the love of his life, Monique Oberholzer, now Monique Grandio Alegria, and they both decided to move to Monique's hometown: South Africa.

Alonso then had to start an acting career from scratch in a country that he did not know, but, nevertheless, was quite welcoming and great to Alonso's career. He was able to work alongside South African acting legends on the screen for the show Rhythm City. The show that would launch Alonso to be one of South Africa's recognized actors.

Including being one of the most handsome men [1]. Thanks to this, Mark Serrano Perez (Grandio) was a big favorite with the crowd.

2020s

On June 5, 2020, we got to see Alonso play the part of "Checkpoint Army Ranger" for the Action / Crime / Drama The Last Days of American Crime by Olivier Megaton. He is also set to star in South Africa's new show "Legacy". As time goes by, the future seems bright for this young Mexican actor.
