Alphonso Settles[edit]
Alphonso Settles (born December 23, 1978) is an American actor and model from Detroit,
Michigan. Settles got his start while modeling and later showing interest in the entertainment
industry by appearing in stage plays. Advancing on to be known primarily as a leading actor in
film and television.
LIFE and CAREER[edit]
Alphonso Settles was born on December 23, 1978, in Detroit, Michigan. Settles began his career
as model in the Metro Detroit area, where he was born and raised; participating in various local
fashions shows, films, stage plays and events. “Alphonso was discovered at one of his shows
and offered an opportunity to showcase his acting skills”,[1]. His first film was Ovid and the Art of
Love, starring John Savage (Godfather III) and Corbin Bleu (High School Musical). On television,
Alphonso has had guest starring roles on Dark Lies, Half Blood, The Spot and Tale of Tails.
Settles has appeared in several films, including lead roles in He Played Me and He Played Me 2.
Alphonso also appeared in several featuring films, including First Lady (2018), Get Paid (2022)
and Chasing the Ghost (2022). Settles is known for Detroit’s Favorite Actor from the Detroit Filmmaker Awards and “Detroit’s.
Settles was recognized as Detroit’s Favorite Actor from the Detroit Filmmaker Awards and “Detroit’s
Most Streamed Actor”[2]. Furthermore, he has been nominated twice for Detroit Choice Awards
in 2022 and 2023 as Best Lead Actor. Settles was “heavily into playing basketball growing up”[3]
gave him an opportunity to play Semi-Pro basketball for years. Alphonso believes in self-care
and "love working out"[4] in the gym. He loves spending time with his one child.
