Elections[edit]

Here are the results of elections to the Town Council from 2011.

2 May 2019[edit]

The council had 12th election on 2 May 2019, the same day as the 2019 United Kingdom local elections in England and Northern Ireland, which included elections to Cheshire East Council. The Conservatives lost control of Cheshire East Council for the first time.[1]

Alsager was a highly contested ward between the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives and Labour. The election to Town Council resulted in no one party having control with the Liberal Democrats losing their majority on the Town Council for the first time in decades.

Alsager Central Ward[edit]

Julian Goodrich, Jane Hearne, Sue Helliwell and Pauline Hubbard were elected. The Conservatives did well in this ward and got some of their first town councillors elected for years.

The by-election campaign took place over the Christmas and New Year period in December 2016. The Liberal Democrat candidate, Carrie Pletscher, won the election. However, Labour's candidate achieved the best vote share for any Labour candidate in a local election in the town since 1996.
