Alshgega is a town located in northwest Libya in the Jabal al Gharbi District, within the Tripolitania Region. Alshgega is roughly 145 km from the Libyan Coastal Highway as well as Tripoli. Alshgega has an area of around 18 km and an elevation of 550m. Alshgega is situated in a basin on the foothills of a small collection of mountains with a zenith of 800m. The town is also under the confluence of the intermittent River Wadi Wamis and is around 9 km east of the seasonal Wadi Wamis Lake. Other settlements situated within the basin are Wamis and Alwasta. Within the town there are 2 mosques in use; Bilal bin Rabah Mosque, and Al Zubair Ibn Al Oum Mosque. Another site of interest is the historic site, Al-Sahaba Mosque.
