Alternate CMS first beta release was on August 1st, 2021.[1] Its goal is to fill the need for an eCommerce back-end with complete content management system functionality. It combines the best of Django and Python under the hood, while being flexible, easy to use, and extendable.

The content management system started as a combination of the content management systems Django CMS and Oscar Commerce.[3]
