Alwan (organization)
Alwan (Arabic: ألوان) that means "colours in arabic as a reference for the colours of the rainbow flag, is a human rights nongovernmental organization located in Hamburg (Germany) that was founded to express all the pains and concerns of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer,...) community in the Middle East and North African region.[1]
History[edit]
Alwan was created in November 2014 in Iraq. It aims to document violations that happen in the MENA region, followed by writing reports, studies and make research on them systematically and objectively in order to guarantee the rights of victims.
Many international and local human rights organizations, governmental and non-governmental, as well as a wide range of international, local and Arab news agencies have recognised their reports as references.[1]
