Amanda Nachman (04/21/1985) is an American author, speaker and entrepreneur. She is the CEO of College Magazine, author of #Qualified: You Are More Impressive Than You Realize, and keynote speaker and host of Find Your Passion Career podcast.[1]
Early Life and Education[edit]
Nachman was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in the town of Pikesville and attended Summit Park Elementary, Sudbrook Magnet Middle, Pikesville High and Carver Center for Arts and Technology High School. Growing up, Nachman participated in musical theater, visual arts, literary arts, softball and field hockey.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in English: Language, Writing and Rhetoric in 2007 from the University of Maryland.[2] She was also in the business honors program Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST). She volunteered at the nonprofit Reality Changers helping underserved high school students achieve their goals of getting into college.[3] She is currently a Management PhD student at the University of California, San Diego conducting research on emotion regulation, passion, and gender bias in the workplace.[4]
Career[edit]
In her senior year of college, Nachman launched College Magazine as a print publication at the University of Maryland in 2007. She developed a writer training program for students to improve their skills and cultivated partnerships with advertisers including Vitamin Water, Princeton Review and Staples. In 2009 she competed and won the $15,000 top prize in the Cupid’s Cup Business Competition sponsored by the founder of Under Armour, Kevin Plank, as well as the $2,500 Audience Choice Award.[5] By 2012, Nachman expanded her reach 14 campuses with a 200,000 readership and launched the website in 2014. Today, College Magazine reaches 9 million students online at 200 college campuses and works with aspiring journalists.[6]
In 2017, Nachman spoke on a LGBTQ in Tech panel at 500 Startups Unity & Inclusion Summit. In February 2020 Nachman delivered a TEDx talk in Monterey, California at Santa Catalina High School.[7] Nachman spoke on how to achieve a qualified mindset by making courageous connections and leveling up your story. In September 2020, Nachman’s book #Qualified: You Are More Impressive Than You Realize released, set to re-release May 2023.[8] In her book, Nachman shares interviews with job experts and professionals, resume templates, email outreach scripts, and actions for a Qualified Mindset. In August 2020, Nachman appeared on Good Morning America for an interview on helping recent graduates navigate the job search.[9]
In October 2021, Nachman spoke on Meetup.com to a global audience where she emphasized the importance of having a qualified mindset and seeing all the ways in which your talents, passions, ideas, and skills are transferable.[10]
She spoke at the SDSU Women in Leadership Conference in March 2022 about choosing confidence.[11] Nachman was featured on APB Speakers where she covered topics like creating the career you want, finding your passion, and helping the audience understand they are more qualified than they think.[12]
In March 2022, Nachman spoke at the SHNU LEADS Conference about her message of #Qualified.[13] Nachman became a Certified Career Management Coach in April 2022 through the Academies for Coaching Inc.
Nachman has appeared on Cheddar TV, ABC10, PunkRock HR.[14] Her advice has been featured in Business Insider, NBC News, Today, MSNBC and MarketWatch.[15]

Nachman lives in San Diego, California with her fiancé and dog Frankie.
