Amani Institute

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Amani Institute is a nonprofit educational institution that provides post-graduate training for careers in the social impact sector globally. Its mission is to develop professionals who create social impact by creating new models of education and training that enable people to develop new practical skills and experiences for their professional toolkit, a personal understanding of their own leadership journey, and the global networks necessary for long-term career success.[1]

The Amani Institute was founded in 2011 by Roshan Paul and Ilaina Rabbat, from India and Argentina respectively, who had a combined 25 years experience in working in social entrepreneurship globally. Through their careers in vastly different parts of the world, they had witnessed firsthand 1) the growing hunger for meaningful careers in the people they met, 2) the demand for high-quality talent from leading organizations all over the world, and 3) the inadequacies of the higher education system (including their own top-ranked universities) to meet this two-way demand. They decided to start an organization that would help people become changemakers – to create careers of meaning and impact.

Programs[edit]

The Amani Institute trains professionals from both the private and public sectors through a 9-month Social Innovation Management Program. As of May 2018, this program has trained 320 people from 49 different countries. [2]Faculty for the program include Nobel Prize winner Jerry White.

Through our customized trainings, we have created professional development workshops, toolkits, and curriculum for organizations such as TechChange, UNICEF, Oxfam, and CARE International.

The Amani Institute also has partnerships with Lynn University, MBA in Global Social Innovation, George Mason University, School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, United Nations University for Peace,[3] and FAE Business School [pt].

The Amani Institute fills the gap between skills and expectations, and the reality of the job through teaching practical skills and fieldwork in emerging markets. The Amani Institute is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and São Paulo, Brazil. It holds 501(c)(3) status in the United States.
