Ambarish Gupta is an Indian entrepreneur and investor. He co-founded Knowlarity Communications, a cloud communications company, and founded Basis Vectors Capital, an investment firm focused on software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies.[2][3]
Early life and education
Gupta studied computer science at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and completed an MBA at Carnegie Mellon University.[1]
Career
Early startup
In a 2016 interview, Gupta said he returned to India in 2003 to start an online real estate listing venture, Inventica Solutions, which later shut down after he was unable to raise capital in the early market.[5] A 2024 Founder Thesis profile describes the venture as an online apartment search portal and discusses the difficulties of building the business in the early Indian startup ecosystem.[6]
Knowlarity
Gupta co-founded Knowlarity Communications in 2009.[1][5] In 2022, Gupshup announced its acquisition of Knowlarity.[2]
Basis Vectors Capital
Gupta founded Basis Vectors Capital, an investment firm focused on SaaS, with operations in the United States and India.[3] The new venture’s fundraise was led by Cianna Capital, with participation from family offices including those of Rajesh Jain and Abhishek Goel, and described an operating model called "SaaSMachine" built around engineering, finance, sales, support, and marketing.[3]

PitchBook lists Gupta as an angel investor and a board member at CultureOS and LegalPay.[4]
