Ambedo Blue is a British indie/alternative rock band from Merseyside composed of Milo Richardson (vocals and rhythm guitar), Paddy Turner (lead guitar), Isaac Cleary (bass guitar), and Danny Brown (drums). [1]
History
The members of Ambedo Blue met as 12- and 13-year-olds while at school in Wallasey. Their first performance together happened outside of Notre-Dame Cathedral on a school trip to Paris. [2]
The band members formed part of different outfits and played covers together on and off for several years. They consolidated solidly as a band in 2019 and have been "polishing and screwing things together" since, as stated by their vocalist.[2] The band's original bassist, George Higgins, departed the group in early 2023, and was replaced by Isaac Cleary later that year. [3]
Ambedo Blue's music has been described as "catchy and psychedelic" with upbeat, funky tunes that convey "pathos and exuberance". [1] The band members have highlighted that their sound is reminiscent of old-school bands like Belle and Sebastian and Velvet Underground but also contains elements of more recent popular bands such as The La's and The Arctic Monkeys. [2]
After the release of their first EP, Bet the Wet, in early 2024, Ambedo Blue have become a regular staple in the Liverpool music scene. Their 2024 residency in Rough Trade Records' music shop in Liverpool was completely sold out. [3]
