Amber Renae is an Australian fashion stylist, designer and television personality.[1] She is widely known for her appearance on Arena TV's Project Runway Australia.[2] Renae has guest-starred on numerous shows, including Mornings with Kerri-Anne and the Dave and Kim Show; and currently working as a television presenter with Fashion TV. She is currently working in the reality television series, "Dream Life".[3]

Early life[edit]

Amber was born in Brisbane, Queensland. Renae earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Queensland.[4] During her studies, and after graduating, she worked as a construction engineer for Leighton Contractors. She worked on major infrastructure projects, including the Pacific Motorway Upgrade and the Inner City Bypass project in Brisbane.[citation needed]

Career[edit]

Fashion label[edit]

Renae launched a streetwear label called ARX in 2002. The label was a men's and women's streetwear brand, wholesaled in boutiques in a number of stores in Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Japan.[5]

In 2005, at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in Sydney, Amber Renae dressed Olympic swimmer Geoff Huegill in ARX clothing for the runway of her fashion parade in the emerging Australian designer section.[6][not in citation given]

In 2007, Renae was appointed to the selection panel of the inaugural Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane. She was also chosen to discuss innovation in fashion with the Australian government's parliamentary secretary for trade. Renae was also the winner of the Cox Plate Fashion on the Field contest in 2008.[7]

Project Runway Australia[edit]

Renae was selected as a participant in season two of the Arena TV series Project Runway Australia. The series was one of the most popular local productions on Arena TV. The competition was eventually won by designer Anthony Capon, who went on to show his collection at Rosemount Australia Fashion Week. Renae finished ninth but was widely credited with making the most out of the show, regularly featuring in Arena TV promotions and advertisements for the programme.

Following her appearance on Project Runway Australia, Renae quickly established herself as a media personality and began a career in television presenting, interviewing well-known personalities including actors Andie MacDowell and Melissa George. She is the resident reporter for Fashion TV and has interviewed many of Australia's greatest fashion talent, including Dion Lee, Kate Sylvester and Manning Cartel. Renae has also appeared on Nova FM's morning show with Hughesy and Kate, and has co-hosted radio shows with Hayley Pearson on Nova FM, and Mike Goldman's drive show on c913FM. She recently hosted a fashion segment entitled "Kiss My Style" on Kiss FM.

  • In 2010, Amber showed her support for the LGBT community in Sydney, Australia, by devoting her time to Sleazeball in support of the annual gay pride parade and festival.[citation needed]
