Amelie Borg (born 17 November 2004) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for Port Adelaide in the AFLW. A lockdown tall defender known for her competitiveness and one‑on‑one craft,[2] Borg was voted a Port Adelaide vice‑captain ahead of the 2025 AFLW season.[3]

Early life

Borg grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, and played junior football with Golden Grove before moving into the SANFL Women's competition with North Adelaide Football Club.[1] She earned AFLW U18 All-Australian honours and selection in the SANFLW Team of the Year as a teenager.[2]

AFLW career

Borg was drafted by Port Adelaide with pick 61 in the AFLW draft2022[1] She debuted in Port Adelaide's inaugural AFLW season and quickly established herself as a key defender.[3]

In 2024 she was named in the AFLPA 22under22 final team,[4] having first been listed in the squad by the AFL Players’ Association earlier that month.[5] She was also named in the 2024 All‑Australian squad.[6]

Ahead of the 2025 season, Port Adelaide confirmed Borg as a vice‑captain in a refreshed leadership group.[3] The club formally announced the full 2025 leadership group in July 2025.[7]

Playing style

A tall, mobile key defender, Borg is noted for her aerial ability, body positioning and lockdown work, with growing rebound attack from the back half.[2]
