AmericanConnection flight 5019 was a scheduled U.S. domestic flight operated by Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. from the Dubuque Regional Airport in Dubuque, Iowa to Chicago O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois. Shortly before taxi, ground crew were removing the jet bridge from the Embraer EMB-135KL when a wind gust adjusted the jet bridge and forced it into the left side of the aircraft just under the cockpit. The aircraft was repaired and returned to service. All 44 passengers and 3 crew members were not injured in the accident.[1] The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigated and found that the airport authorities' improperly decided to deactivate the jet bridge braking system which created an unsafe condition by the gate agents not being able to stop the bridge from impacting the airplane during a wind gust.[2]

N377SK landing at Philadelphia International Airport on April 30th, 2008.

The aircraft involved was a Embraer EMB-135KL with manufacturer's serial number 145579, registered as N377SK. It was around 9 years old at the time of the accident: it was delivered to Alaska Airlines on March 28, 2002.[3] The aircraft had logged 24441 hours on the airframe at the time of the accident.
