American Lifeguard Association is a national educational association which has been offering lifeguard training. It is a member of one of the largest worldwide aquatic consortiums that have certified over 250,000 individuals and was founded in 1990. American Lifeguard Association's pool operating training courses are recommended by CDC.

American Lifeguard Association promotes the safe use of aquatic environments through training, public services announcements and national news media interviews which include the show, Today, on NBC[3]. They have also been featured in The New York Times[4], Chicago Tribune[5][not in citation given] [5] ABC Action News, [6] CNN, [7] and Fox News [8] for their tips about water safety. Recently, Wyatt Werneth was featured sharing tips with the NBC Nightly News, about how to make sure a child is confident in the water. [3] They provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, water safety, pool operations and lifeguarding training nationwide.
