The American Lindy Hop Championships is a dance convention dedicated primarily to the father of all swing dances, the Lindy Hop. The event started Halloween weekend in 1998 produced, in part, with the aid of Boogie Dance Productions, a New York based dance promoter. The first event happened over a four-day weekend at the old Playboy Resort in Great Gorge, New Jersey. It was chronicled in Life Magazine's Year in Pictures edition as a first-of-its-kind event promoting Lindy Hop and it's sister dances at the time - tap, jazz and blues dancing. It hosted an international audience of dancers who came to be part of the first event since the extended Swing Era to concentrate on Lindy Hop.
