Amit Chaudhery

Amit Chaudhery is an Integrated Communications and Public Diplomacy professional. In parallel, he owns an imprint, Invictus, is a writer, publisher and broadcaster. More importantly, Chaudhery is a naturalist and conservationist, engaged in animal welfare and protection.

Early Life

Amit Chaudhery was born at New Delhi in 1966. His parents were senior civil servants. Chaudhery attended Modern School, New Delhi, studied History at St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. He holds a Masters degree in Public Administration from the Punjab University Chandigarh, and a certification in Journalism from the London School, of Journalism. Chaudhery is an elected member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, U.K. and the Reputation Institute, U.S.A.

Professional Career

Beginning his professional life as a broadcast journalist, Amit Chaudhery moved towards public affairs and corporate communications. He has worked as in-house counsel, functional head and practitioner for large Indian and multinational corporations across categories and sectors.    

Activism and Community Work

As naturalist, conservationist, besides being a widely referenced writer, between 2001 and 2018 Amit Chaudhery served on expert committees of the Government of India which primarily have oversight on institutional animal ethics. Among others, he has served as expert member  for the Defence Institute of Physiology & Allied Sciences, DRDO Ministry of Defence; Maulana Azad Medical College ; Indian Council of Agricultural Research ; Ranbaxy / Sun Pharma ; Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Chaudhery was president, People For Animals’ Gurgaon chapter (www.pfagurgaon.com)  a subsidiary of India’s largest animal NGO: People For Animals (www.peopleforanimalsindia.org) founded and chaired by Maneka Gandhi, from 2009 until 2018.

Since 2013, Chaudhery serves as an Honorary Animal Welfare Officer (HAWO), for the Animal Welfare Board of India; a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India. He is the Founder of Earth Quotient (www.earthquotient.org) an aggregator of efforts and direct intervener in areas of impact for ecosystems and non-humans. With wide experience in social equity, Amit Chaudhery is a Representative Neutral, authorised to serve as mediator, arbitrator, negotiator, ombudsman by the Mediation & Conciliation Network (www.mediationhub.org).
