Amit Rudra is a prominent film activist in Bangladesh. He works as a filmmaker, actor, executive producer and art director in the Bangladeshi film industry. Recently he was acclaimed for his performances in Shaaticup.[1][2]

Early life

Amit Rudra was born in a Hindu family in Bamongram, Nandigram, Bogra, on 2 January 1992. In 2002, he moved to Bogra town to study at Bogra Cantonment Board High School. A year later he moved to Rajshahi and was admitted to the S. M. M. Police Lines School & College there. From here he passed SSC in 2007. He then entered New Govt. Degree College, Rajshahi, and passed HSC in 2010. In 2012, he was admitted to the sculpture group of the Department of Fine Arts in Rajshahi University. After admission to the university, he became involved in various cultural activities including Jatrapala and Mancha Natak.

He has been interested in cinema since 2014 and in 2015 he made his first short film "Anya Kothao...Chol". The short film was enlisted as a finalist in the 3rd Tareque Masud Short Film Competition, 2016. From then on, he became completely interested in films and started making various short films one by one.

Career

In 2015, Amit Rudra made his first short film Anya Kothao...Chol. Then he made a short film named Abyss which was only 89 seconds long. Then he made his first documentary film Yours, Pradyot Bhattachariya in 2016. In 2017, he debuted as an actor in Mohammad Touqir Islam's short film Sorboccho Gotishima - Permissible Velocity. The short film premiered at the 13th Children Film Festival, 2020. Then he acted in his own directed short film Kumir - The Crocodile.

In the pandemic situation of 2020, he started the most important work in his career, Shaaticup. He played as Uttam Kumar, one of the protagonists of the series. He also works as the executive producer and art director of the series.[3][4][5]

Personal life

Amit Rudra is the only child of his parents. He lost his father on 14 February 2011. Recently he got married to Arundhati Mukherjee on 4 March 2022.
