Amityville Gas Chamber is a 2022 American Satire film written, directed, and starring Michael Stone. It is the 39th film released bearing the Amityville name, and like many other entries, has little to do with the actual Amityville Haunting.

Described as "a satiric take on the myriad of movies taking legal advantage of an unprotected franchise, cobbling together whatever they want and slapping the Amityville name on it. If that's the way they want to play, then game on.."[1]

Plot[edit]

Amityville Gas Chamber has no narrative to speak of. Instead, the entirety of the film is without dialogue and opting to show the main character quietly reading a book while Flatulence noises are added as foley elements. Periodically, trivia relating to Amityville Films, Amityville, New York, The DeFeo Murders, and the Amityville house itself will silently pop up as visual elements.

Production[edit]

Development[edit]

Amityville Gas Chamber is the result of a joke that spiraled out of control. Amityville Gas Chamber started as a concept for a 5-10 minute long video on my channel. However, every step of the way was met with 'why not?' Make it a full-length run-time? 'Why not?' Give it proper artwork? 'Why not?' Seek distribution methods? 'Why not?' Now, here we are."[1][2]

Filming[edit]

Production consisted of one take with no dialogue as Michael Stone recorded himself reading a paperback copy of The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson sitting in front of a green screen.

Post-Production[edit]

Edited in post using Adobe Premiere Pro, a background was keyed in to reflect an idyllic fireside lounge. This background was a composite primarily taken from still images of Herrick Library at Alfred University. Foley noises and text based trivia was added at this stage. No cuts to the primary source video were performed.
